Primary tabs

The Department of Educational Psychology and Guidance (PPB), Faculty of Education (FIP), Yogyakarta State University (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta/UNY) welcomed an academic visit from a delegation of lecturers and sixth-semester students of the Guidance and Counseling Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa (Untirta), Banten.
The event began with the screening of a profile video introducing the Faculty of Education and the Guidance and Counseling Study Program at UNY. This was followed by welcoming remarks delivered by Prof. Dr. Budi Astuti, M.Si., Head of the Department of Educational Psychology and Guidance FIP UNY; Arga Satrio Prabowo, M.Pd., Head of the Guidance and Counseling Department at Untirta; and Dr. Agus Basuki, M.Pd., Vice Dean for Planning, Finance, Resources, and General Affairs (PKSDU) of FIP UNY.
As part of the agenda, the two institutions signed a Tri Dharma of Higher Education cooperation agreement, covering collaboration in the fields of education, research, and community service. In their remarks, both the Head of the PPB Department FIP UNY and the Vice Dean for PKSDU expressed their appreciation for the visit and conveyed their hope that the partnership between the two institutions would continue to develop and be sustained in the future.
The program continued with a public lecture titled “Crisis and Trauma Counseling,” delivered by Dr. Sigit Sanyata, M.Pd., and moderated by Rizqi Lestari, M.Pd. In his presentation, Dr. Sigit Sanyata highlighted several key issues, including the urgency of crisis and trauma counseling, the role of counselors in crisis and trauma situations, and the importance of maintaining both personal well-being and professional competence when facing CTD (crisis, trauma, and disaster) situations.
In crisis and trauma contexts, it is important to understand that the counselor’s role is not limited to providing immediate clinical services to survivors. Counselors are also expected to be sensitive to the priority needs of individuals affected by crisis and trauma. Furthermore, counselors should be attentive to the presence of natural helpers who offer emotional encouragement and instrumental support, which are often more readily recognized by survivors than professional assistance. Therefore, the speaker emphasized the importance of collaboration with various stakeholders, including government agencies, to ensure broader access to crisis and trauma victims.
Following the lecture session, lecturers and students from Untirta were invited to take a tour of the Guidance and Counseling Laboratory of FIP UNY and the UNY Guidance and Counseling Service Unit. This activity provided participants with the opportunity to observe firsthand the facilities and services available at BK UNY in supporting learning processes and counseling services.
